5. Install the side plat es (Items 14 and 15) loosely to the mount weldment and t he wheel
channels of t he Lazer Z frame. The flang es on t he side plates should face in t owards the
unit to provide the m aximum t ir e clear ance. Use the 3/8-16 x 1.00 bolt s ( Item 23), 3/8
spring disk washers (I t em 25) and 3/8-16 whizlock nuts (Item 24) . Make sur e t hat the
raised portion of the spring disk washer faces the head of the bolt. On 52 and 60 inch
units, t he lower bolt on t he wheel channel is best installed by positioning the nut behind t he
hole using a deep sock et and turning t he bolt through t he hole int o the nut.
Lazer Z XP units only (Lazer Z units conti nue at step 8)
6. Install mount weldment (Item 9) loosely to t he rear bumper using the two holes provided.
Use the 3/8-16 x 1.00 bolts ( I tem 23), 3/ 8 spr ing disk washers (Item 25) and 3/8-16
whizlock nuts (Item 24).
7. Install the side plat es (Item 16) and spacer s ( Item 17) loosely to t he m ount weldment and
the mounting pads on the Lazer Z XP frame. Use t he 3/8-16 x 1.00 bolts (I t em 23), 3/8
spring disk washers (I t em 25) and 3/8-16 whizlock nuts (Item 24) . Make sur e t hat the
raised portion of the spring disk washer faces the head of the bolt.
All Units
8. Tight en all the hardware, start ing with the bolts that hold t he m ount weldment to the rear of
the unit and working for ward.
9. On Lazer Z units, r einst all the rear wheels and lower the unit fr om the jack stands.
10. Apply a light coat of gr ease to the f r ont and rear of the upper tube of the mount weldment.
Install the hood assem bly (I tem 7) onto t he m ount by slipping the hook portion over the top
mounting t ube of the m ount weldment. Secure the assembly to t he m ount using the clevis
pins (Item 19) and hairpins (Item 20) .
11. Install t he bag assemblies (Item 1) by inserting the hook port ion int o t he slots in the cross
bar of t he hood assem bly.

4.3 INSTALL BLOWER ASSEMBLY

1. Lower the deck fully. Remove the right hand belt cover. Remove the belt cover m ount ing
stud that pr ot r udes from the deck.
2. Remove the deck dr ive belt from ar ound t he r ight hand spindle sheave.
3. Support the r ight mower blade and shaf t so that it will not fall out of the deck when the right
sheave nut is removed.
4. Remove the right sheave nut, spring disk washer, and sheave f rom the spindle shaft.
NOTE: On uni ts with w r ench f lats on the spindl e just above the blade use a 1- i nch
wrench on the flat sides of the spindle shaft t o prevent t he spi ndle from turning. On
units that do not have a w r ench f lat, block t he bl ade rotation wi t h a block of wood
between the bl ade and baf f les as indicated i n t he bl ade service section of t he Lazer
operator’s manual. Do not use t he bl ade bol t to prevent rotati on.
5. Apply a light coat of grease to the top port ion of the spindle shaft where the sheave
mounts.
6. Install the double sheave (I t em 12) onto the r ight spindle shaf t . Install the spr ing disk
washer and nut removed in Step 4. T or que the sheave nut to 75-80 ft. lbs. Make
sure that t he spr ing disk washer cone is installed towards nut. See Figure 2.
NOTE: On uni ts with w r ench f lats on the spindl e just above the blade use a 1- i nch
wrench on the flat sides of the spindle shaft t o prevent t he spi ndle from turning. On
units that do not have a w r ench f lat, block t he bl ade rotation wi t h a block of wood
between the bl ade and baf f les as indicated i n t he bl ade service section of t he Lazer
Z operator’s manual. Do not use t he blade bolt to prevent rotation. Check bl ade bol t
torque after complet i ng this installation (115 – 120 ft . lbs.).
