•AV/C
Use AV/C in playback mode and other situations
where the FS-4 HD is controlled by an external FireWire
device such as a NLE system that is not supported by
Direct To Edit Technology. In these cases, the FS-4 HD
can be used in a manner similar to a camcorder to
capture footage to the NLE.
In AV/C control mode the TC value reported to the controller
or NLE is the value displayed on the Main menu. Pressing
the DISP changes the source of the TC. The DISP TC mode
selects the TC embedded in the DV/MPEG-2 stream. When
in HD RECORDER mode, and the QUICKTIME HD
FORMAT is selected, the type of timecode reported is
defined by the HDV TC TYPE setting, refer to HDV TC TYPE
on page 70.
Syncro Slave
In Syncro Slave mode, a camcorder and the FS-4 HD
follows the camcorder’s record state. It requires a tape
to be in the camcorder. To use this mode, refer to the
section, Syncro Slave Recording on page 30.
Do Not Use AV/C control in Record Mode
Using Absolute (ABS) Display Mode
It is recommended that when operating in AV/C mode, the reported
timecode source be changed to Absolute (ABS). This is done through
the LCD DISP mode information fields, see DISP (display)
Information Fields on page 50.
