Using the Shooting Functions — Procedure of Setting

Specify the camera settings for taking pictures to get the best result. A general guide is given below.

1 Select a Shooting mode.Turn the Mode dial to select a Shooting mode.The camera settings are tailored to the scene being shot.

CAUTION

When you have been used for long periods in places subject to extreme temperature rises, it will lower your image quality and streaking may also be visible in your images. If this occurs, turn the camera off several times to prevent heating the camera.

[B AUTO]			This is the easiest mode for taking
			pictures (➝p.49).
[		PICTURE	Used for selecting a fast shutter
			speed that reduces camera shake
		STABILIZATION]
			and moving-subject blurring (➝p.49).
			This mode produces beautiful images
[		NATURAL	that retain the natural ambience when
		LIGHT]	shots are taken in low-light conditions
			(➝p.50).
			This mode shoots 2 images
			continuously without flash and with
[		NATURAL &	flash. Shooting with flash allows you
			to take a picture of a main subject

			brightly. This mode is useful for
			shooting 2 different types of pictures
			at the same time (➝p.50).
			[	ZOOM BRACKETING] allows
[		ZOOM	you to take 3 images in one shot with
			a full frame and two cropped frames
		BRACKETING]
			(1.4x and 2x zoom) by pressing the
			shutter button just one time (➝p.51).
[? SCENE			Use to select the ideal setting from
			Scene position menu for the shot.
		POSITION]
			(➝p.52).
[>MANUAL]			All manual settings for taking pictures
			(➝p.61).
[< APERTURE-			Used for changing the aperture or
	PRIORITY AE]		shutter speed setting so that the
[M SHUTTER-			action is frozen, the flow of the motion
	PRIORITY AE]		is conveyed, or the background is out
[N PROGRAM AE]			of focus (➝p.56-59).
[r MOVIE]			Use for shooting movies (➝p.105).
