Clearing Paper Jams

To clear a paper jam, follow these steps:
Notice:
Clear paper jams quickly to avoid problems with the fuser unit.
Do not touch or scratch the green drum surface when clearing the paper jam.
Be careful not to expose the drum to light for more than three minutes.
Take special care when removing a jam from the transfer corona unit to avoid damage to the corona wire.
1. Open the upper door.
2. Remove the print unit. For detailed procedures and advisory notes, see the section Removing the Print Unit in Chapter 5.
3. Check inside the printer. If the sheet has jammed:
• Before the feed roller, go to step 4a.
• Under the feed roller, go to step 4b.
If you cannot clear the paper jam by either step 4a or 4b, go to step 4c.
