6Remove the old expansion card (if necessary). You can slightly seesaw the card end-to-end to loosen it, but do not bend the card sideways.

To remove a card (such as a video card) from the PCI Express slot, press the card release lever before trying to remove the card.

Caution

Do not touch the contacts on the bottom part of the expansion card. Touching the contacts can cause electrostatic damage to the card.

7Install the new card into the expansion slot. You can slightly seesaw the card end-to-end to help insert the card, but do not bend the card sideways.

8Reconnect the expansion card cables (if any) using your notes from Step 5, or, if you are adding a new card, follow the manufacturers instructions.

9Tighten the thumbscrew on the expansion card cover.

10Return your computer to its upright position.

11Replace the side panel by following the instructions in “Replacing the side panel” on page 50.
