5Remove the old expansion card (if necessary). You can slightly seesaw the card end-to-end to loosen it, but do not bend the card sideways.

To remove a card (such as a video card) from the PCI Express slot, press the card release lever before trying to remove the card.

Caution

Do not touch the contacts on the bottom part of the expansion card. Touching the contacts can cause electrostatic damage to the card.

6Install the new card into the expansion slot. You can slightly seesaw the card end-to-end to help insert the card, but do not bend the card sideways.

7Tighten the thumbscrew on the expansion card cover.

8Reconnect the expansion card cables (if any) using your notes from Step 4, or, if adding a new card, follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

9Return your computer to its upright position.
