Before removing the system board, follow these steps:

1.Shut down the computer.

2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.

3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

4.Remove the battery (see Battery on page 33), and then remove the following components:

a.Service cover (see Solid-state module on page 34)

b.Solid-state module (see Solid-state module on page 34)

c.Optical drive (see Optical drive on page 38)

d.Fan (see Fan on page 40)

e.Heat sink (see Heat sink on page 41)

f.WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 45)

g.Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 47)

h.Base enclosure (see Base enclosure on page 52)

i.ExpressCard assembly (see ExpressCard assembly on page 56)

j.Display assembly (see Display assembly on page 58)

When replacing the system board, be sure that the following components are removed from the defective system board and installed on the replacement system board:

Memory modules (see Primary memory module on page 37 and Expansion memory module on page 51)

Processor (see Processor on page 43)

RTC battery (see RTC battery on page 50)

Remove the system board:

1.Turn the top cover right side up, with the front toward you.
