For use only with computer models equipped with the following processors: X9100, Q9100, and

494210-001

QX9300

 

 

 

Before removing the processor heat sink, follow these steps:

1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.

3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

4.Remove the following components:

a.Battery (see Battery on page 41)

b.Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 55)

c.Switch cover (see Switch cover on page 59)

d.Fan (see Fan on page 61)

e.Graphics card heat sink (Graphics card heat sink on page 61)

Remove the processor heat sink:

1.In the order indicated on the heat sink, loosen the four Phillips PM2.0×8.0 captive screws (1) that secure the processor heat sink to the base enclosure.

2.Lift the right side of the processor heat sink (2) until it disengages from the processor.
