Setting Up My PC

Follow the steps in the setup poster to set up the computer. Connect the keyboard, mouse, speaker system, and remote sensor to the connections on the back of the PC. Match the colors.

Your connector locations and system components may vary.

The following pages identify the location of components and connectors on your PC and provide some setup alternatives.

Checklist

The following items are not provided with your PC. Be sure you have them on hand if you need them for your setup:

Monitor (required)

TV

Internet Service Provider (ISP), selected during initial setup (required for Media Center features, such as the TV programming guide)

Coaxial cable splitter

S-video cable(s), to connect your TV if it requires s-video

Audio Y-cable, to connect to a stereo system

Be sure to:

Connect the keyboard, mouse, and remote sensor.

Connect the monitor (not included) and the optional TV (not included).

Connect the speakers.

Connect the TV antenna, cable, or satellite signal source.

Connect the modem to the telephone line and connect a network cable (not provided) if one is needed.

Turn on the monitor, the PC, and then turn on the speaker system.

Follow the onscreen instructions, including selecting an ISP using Easy Internet Sign-up.

Set up the Media Center (see “Opening Media Center”).

Enable the (optional) TV; refer to “Enabling TV Out Image.”

After you’ve completed the initial startup and registration, connect optional devices one at a time, such as a printer or scanner.
