OfficeJet Pro Over a

Network

This chapter explains how to set up the HP OfficeJet Pro and your computers for network printing and file sharing.

IMPORTANT Contact your network administrator before setting up your OfficeJet Pro for file sharing. Your company may have security guidelines for you to follow.

Hewlett-Packard does not provide support for peer-to-peer networks, file sharing, and printing. Check your Windows Help system or Microsoft for assistance.

After this is done, all computers that are set up properly will be able to:

Print to the HP OfficeJet Pro.

Access files on the computer directly connected to the HP OfficeJet Pro.

NOTE Your computers must already be networked to use this procedure.

Setting Up for Peer-to-Peer Printing and File Sharing

To set up for peer-to-peer printing and file sharing, you will need to set up your “server” computer and “client” computers.

A “Server” is the computer that is connected directly to the HP OfficeJet Pro using the supplied IEEE-1284 cable.

A “Client” is another computer on your network that needs to be set up to print to the shared HP OfficeJet Pro 1170C Series.
