How To Start The Engine
WARNING
Engines give off carbon monoxide, an odorless, colorless, poison gas.
Breathing carbon monoxide can cause nausea, fainting or death.
•Start and run engine outdoors.
•Do not start or run engine in enclosed area, even if doors or windows are open.
WARNING
Rotating parts and belts can contact or entangle hands, feet, hair, clothing, or accessories.
Traumatic amputation or severe laceration can result.
•Keep hands and feet away from rotating parts.
•Before starting the engine, raise the blade so that it will not contact the ground.
CAUTION
This engine was shipped from the factory without oil. If you start the engine without oil, the engine will be damaged beyond repair and will not be covered under warranty.
1Before starting the engine, pull the clutch /depth control lever (A) all the way back to raise and disengage the blade. See Figure 11.

2Move the throttle control lever (B), if equipped, to
the FAST position (see Figure 12).
3Move the choke control lever (C) to the CHOKE position (see Figure 12).
