Switch		and Jumper		Locations
The	component locations differ				depending	on the level of the adapter. However, the fun
of	the	jumpers	and switches		are the	same.

Installation Procedure

To	install the 8-port adapter, perform the following steps.
Ÿ	Review	the	precautions	on	handling	static-sensitive	devices (page 2-2).
Ÿ	Set the option switches and jumpers (starting on						page 2-4).
Ÿ	Install the adapter (page 2-12).
Ÿ	Download	the	operating	system support and diagnostic programs (page 2-13).
Ÿ	Run diagnostics to verify the installation (page						2-13).
Ÿ	Connect	the	optional cable		(page	2-13).

ŸSet up the configuration files (page 2-13).

Configuring the IBM ARTIC186 8-Port Adapter

Before installing the 8-port adapter in the computer, set the switches and jumpers on required for your installation. As you configure the adapter, record these settings in page 2-3.
