If your TV supports progressive scanning, you can con-
nect another video component (satellite/cable tuner, LD
player, etc.) to the DPS-10.5 and it will upconvert inter-
laced video to progressive for improved picture quality.
This is also useful when your TV doesn’t have enough
video inputs to connect all of your components.
You can connect your other video component to the
DPS-10.5’s S-Video or composite VIDEO IN input, as
shown

.

To use the other component, on the DPS-10.5, set
the video input source to External (see page 62

).

Notes:
If the source video signal is unstable or of poor quality,
the picture may be distorted or flicker.
The S-Video VIDEO IN has priority. If there’s no sig-
nal present at that input, the DPS-10.5 uses the com-
posite video input.
See the table on page 24 for details on how the
DPS-10.5’s video outputs work with each video input
source.

About the HD COMPONENT VIDEO OUT

When a video signal is fed to the S-Video or composite
VIDEO IN socket, and the video input source is set to
External, that video signal is upconverted to progressive
and output by the HD VIDEO OUT COMPONENT
socket.
Compatibility of this unit with progressive-scan TVs.
This player is compatible with progressive video Macro
Vision System Copy Guard.

COMPATIBLE WITH THIS PRODUCT AND MAY
CAUSE ARTIFACTS TO BE DISPLAYED IN THE
PICTURE. IN CASE OF 525 OR 625 PROGRESSIVE
SCAN PICTURE PROBLEMS, IT IS RECOM-
MENDED THAT THE USER SWITCH THE CON-
NECTION TO THE “STANDARD DEFINITION”
