Or pull out the power plug, wait around 5 seconds and then re-insert.

Not functioning while AWAITB blinks on the front display panel.

The unit is automatically repairing recorded data that is unusual. Wait until the time display is displayed. Repairing may take more than 1 hour.

The disc tray does not open.

It can be removed by force using the following method.

APress STOP/CLEAR (o) and STANDBY/ON on the unit simultaneously for more than 2 seconds until ARESETTINGB is displayed on the front display panel.

BPress and hold OPEN/CLOSE (M) on the unit until the disc tray opens. (Takes about 30 seconds.)

CAfter removing the disc, press OPEN/CLOSE (M) to close the disc tray. (The unit will turn off.)

General

No power is supplied to the unit.

The power cord is disconnected from the socket.

The channel cannot be changed.

Channel cannot be changed during recording.

The remote control does not work.

0The setting of the remote control code (1/2/3/4) is

inappropriate. [ P94]

0The batteries may be depleted.

0Remove the batteries, re-insert after more than 5 minutes and then try again. Alternatively, replace with new batteries.

Dubbing from the Video Cassette Recorder is not possible.

The external input channel AF-1B setting is inappropriate.

The unit does not operate.

0There are cases when the operation is prohibited, depending on the disc.

0If the unit cannot be operated at all, turn off the unit, and then on again. (Lightning or static electricity may cause malfunction of the unit.)

ALOCKB is displayed on the front display panel, and the disc cannot be removed.

Cancel tray lock using the following method.

While holding STOP/CLEAR (o), press OPEN/CLOSE (M) on the unit when the unit is in standby mode. AUNLOCKB is displayed on the front display panel when tray lock is released.

Playback

No images on the TV screen.

0Check if the video input is displayed.

Switch the TV (AV TV) with video/audio input terminals to the external input connected to this unit.

0Check the output format of the image. Press OUTPUT FORMAT for more than 3 seconds and the current format will be displayed on the front display panel. To revert back to the standard setting, press OUTPUT FORMAT repeatedly while the output format is displayed on the front display panel. Then press ENTER after AOUT 576IB is displayed.

Images do not appear on the TV screen or images are distorted.

Check the output format of the image. Refer to the above mentioned for checking method.

0Playback does not start or stops immediately after pressing PLAY.

0ANO DISCB is displayed on the front display panel.

0Place the disc on the disc tray with the playback surface facing down.

0 A disc not compatible with this unit is loaded. [ P12]

0The disc loaded is dirty.

Images are distorted when you start high speed search.

Images are distorted at the point where the playback speed changes. It is not a malfunction.

RetroActive Playback does not start.

For HDD, set Setup Menu ALIVE MEMORYB [ P99] I to other than AOFFB.

Live Memory Playback does not start.

For DVD, Live Memory Playback cannot be performed other than on DVD-RAM discs. Use a DVD-RAM disc. [ P12]
