TROUBLESHOOTING

No power is supplied.

SET DATE/TIME!

Recording cannot be

Snapshot mode cannot be

The colour of Snapshot
looks strange.

The power is not connected

The built-in clock battery
has run out and the
previously set date/time has
been erased.

The tapes erase protection
tab is set to SAVE.
The Power Switch is set to
“ ” or OFF.

The cassette holder cover is

The camcorder is not getting
power, or some other
malfunction exists.

Focus is set to the Manual
mode.
The recording was done in a
dark place, or the contrast
was low.
The lens is dirty or covered
with condensation.

The batterys charge is low.

The Squeeze mode is
selected.

The light source or the
subject does not include
white. Or there are various
different light sources
behind the subject.
The Sepia or Monotone
mode is activated.
1.
Connect the AC Adapter
securely ( pg. 9).
Replace the dead battery
with a fully charged one
( pg. 8, 9).
2.
Set the date/time
( pg. 12).
Consult your nearest JVC
dealer for replacement.
3.
Set the tapes erase
protection tab to REC
( pg. 13).
Set the Power Switch to
“ ” or “ ” ( pg. 17).
Replace with new cassette
( pg. 13).
Close the cassette holder
cover.
4.
Turn the camcorders power
off and on again ( pg. 17).
5.
Set Focus to the Auto mode
( pg. 25).
Clean the lens and check
the focus again ( pg. 65).
6.
Set it in the right position
( pg. 13).
Install a fully charged
battery ( pg. 8, 9).
7.
Disengage the Squeeze
mode ( pg. 36).
8.
Find a white subject and
compose your shot so that it
also appears in the frame
( pg. 30).
Turn off Sepia and Mono-
tone ( pg. 26, 27).
If, after following the steps in the chart below, the problem still exists, please consult your nearest JVC dealer.
The camcorder is a microcomputer-controlled device. External noise and interference (from a TV, a radio,
etc.) might prevent it from functioning properly. In such cases, first disconnect its power supply unit (battery
pack, AC Adapter, etc.) and wait a few minutes; and then re-connect it and proceed as usual from the
beginning.
