7Variable-Speed Picture Search:

You can change the speed of picture search.

How to use the TIME SCAN SHUTTLE ring on the front panel:

Turn the TIME SCAN SHUTTLE ring to the right (forward search) or to the left (reverse search).

When you release the ring, it remains at the position where you turn it, and picture search continues. Each time it passes a click position, the playback speed changes (see the diagram on the next page.)

How to use the buttons on the Remote:

To do forward picture search, press ¢ repeatedly. Each time you press the button, the search speed increases.

To decrease the speed during forward picture search (toward normal playback, then reverse picture search), press 4 repeatedly.

To do reverse picture search, press 4 repeatedly. Each time you press the button, the search speed increases during reverse picture search.

To decrease the speed during reverse picture search (toward normal playback, then forward picture search), press ¢ repeatedly.

To resume normal playback, press PLAY ( 3 ).

Still Picture Playback

Press PAUSE ( 8 ) during normal playback. Playback is freezed and a still picture appears.

When “TIMESCAN AUDIO” is set to “ON” (default setting), the sounds of the last 3 seconds are reproduced repeatedly until you resume the normal playback or advance (or reverse) the still pictures.

To resume normal playback, press PLAY ( 3 ).

NOTE:

To obtain a noiseless still picture, it may be necessary to adjust tracking in slow motion playback before starting still picture playback.

1 Pause during playback

Press PAUSE ( 8 ).

Playback is freezed and a still picture appears.

2 Advance or reverse still picture

On the front panel:

To advance a still picture, press PAUSE ( 8 ) repeatedly.

On the Remote:

To advance a still picture, press ¢ (or PAUSE ( 8 )) repeatedly.

To reverse a still picture, press 4 repeatedly.

You can also use the JOG dial on the Remote. However, in this case, the TimeScan function is not activated.

1 Press JOG/SHUTTLE so that the JOG/ SHUTTLE lamp lights.

2Turn the JOG dial to the right or to the left.

To resume normal playback, press PLAY ( 3 ).
