This section describes the procedure for basic operations. Play, stop, pause and skip.

Step-by-Step Procedure for Playing a Disc

1Press # (Play) (On the player itself, press 3.) The disc is played starting at the beginning.

DVD Video:

Pressing # displays the menu on the TV screen. In this case, you can select an item from the

 

menu to playback. See page 51.

Video CD : For Video CD discs that include PBC (Playback Control) information, pressing # displays the menu on the TV screen. In this case, you can select an item from the menu to playback. See page 59.

Stopping a Disc

While a disc is playing

1Press 7 (Stop). (On the player itself, press 7.) Playback stops.

Pausing a Disc

While a disc is playing

1Press 8 (Pause). (On the player itself, press 8.) Playback is paused.

Cancelling Pause

Press # (Play). (On the player itself, press 3.)

Skipping Through a Disc

While a disc is playing

1Press ¢ or 4. (On the player itself, also press ¢ or 4.) ¢ : Skips ahead to tracks in the forward direction.

4: Skips back to tracks in the reverse direction.

• DVD Audio:

For this type of disc you can skip across track numbers.

 

While pressing [GROUP], press ¢ or 4 to skip groups.

 

• You can also use this procedure while a disc is stopped.

• DVD Video:

Although it will depend on the contents of the disc, for most disc you skip across titles or

 

chapters.

• Audio CD:

For this type of disc you can skip across track numbers.

 

• You can also use this procedure while a disc is stopped.

• Video CD:

For this type of disc you can skip across track numbers.

 

When playing Video CD discs using PBC, you may not be able to skip tracks for some

 

discs. For more information about PBC playback (using the menu function for normal

 

playback), see page 58.
