Turning the Display Off to Get Better Sound Quality [DISPLAY OFF]

If you do not need the picture display, you can switch off the video output. (For DVD Audio and Audio CD only)

By switching off the video output display while a disc is playing, you can eliminate noise generated by the video circuitry or the display. This allows you to achieve even greater sound quality from the player.

While a disc is playing or paused

1Press [DISPLAY OFF]. (On the player itself, press [VIDEO/DISP.ON/OFF].)

Each time you press the button, the video output and display changes as shown below.

V.OFF is lit

V.OFF is lit and the display darkens.

For DVD Audio discs, the DVD AUDIO indicator on the player

itself goes off.

The picture on the TV goes off. (For DVD Audio and Audio CD only)

During playback, the whole display goes off.

Return to the normal state.

Note:

For some DVD Audio discs, you may not be able to switch off the picture display.

You can still access the Initial Settings screen even when the picture display has been switched off.

If the power is switched off, the settings return to the normal state.
