Safety Precautions

Lamp

The Xenon lamp is an excellent light source for slide projectors because it produces brilliant light of high color temperature. This is an ozone-free lamp. The gas pressure enclosed within the bulb is about 10 atmo- spheres when cold and will rise to 30-40 atmospheres during operation. Since high voltage of more than 15,000V is required to ignite the lamp, a starter, including a high tension generator, is provided. Careful consider- ation for safety is necessary. To prevent the generation of ozone gas by radiated ultraviolet rays, the bulb contains a small quantity of titanium.

The Xenon bulb has a rated life of 500-1000 hours. The bulb life is shortened by turning the lamp on and off (striking the lamp). You will achieve a longer bulb life by leaving the projector lamp on for longer periods of time rather than repeatedly turning the lamp on and off during your presentation.
