Image resolution

Resolution is the degree of sharpness of the scanned image, and

 

is measured using a cone-shaped resolution chart. This type of

 

chart is less susceptible to skew than traditional microcopy

 

charts. Resolution is read at the point just before the bars of the

chart either touch or break up on the same horizontal line. Shortly after they touch, they will start to diverge and fewer bars are resolved. This is most easily measured using some magnification.

Bars touch horizontally at 205 dots-per-inch.

Resolution is read as 200 dots-per-inch.
