PTT call types

You can make two types of walkie-talkie calls:

A barge call automatically connects to the other party. The receiving party does not have the option to ignore the call.

An alert call sends the receiving party a tone indicating that someone wants to speak with them. The call recipient has the option to either answer or ignore the call.

Making a PTT barge call to a saved contact

If you have saved a phone number in your PTT contacts list (at http://www.vzwpushtotalk.com) or in your phone’s contacts list, you can find it quickly.

Start at the home screen.

1.Press the PTT button.

Select Menu Push to Talk.

-or-

Select Menu Contacts View All.

2.Scroll through the list and highlight the contact you want to call.

3.Press the PTT button. Listen for the “OK to Talk” tone. The message “Connected to” then “Talking to” appears on the phone screen.

Note: If the contact is unavailable, a message appears on your phone screen.

4.Speak while pressing the PTT button.

5.Release the PTT button when finished speaking. This allows the called party to reply.

6.Wait for the “Floor Available” tone, then press the PTT button again to speak.

7.To end the PTT call, press . If the other party ends the call, no action is required.

“Call Ended” appears.

Making a PTT barge call to an unsaved phone number

Start at the home screen.

1.Enter the phone number.

2.Press and hold the PTT button. Listen for the “OK to Talk” tone. The message “Connected to” then “Talking to” appears on the phone screen.

Note: If the other party’s phone is unavailable, a message appears on your phone screen.

3.Speak while pressing the PTT button.

4.Release the PTT button when finished speaking. This allows the other party to reply.

5.Wait for the “Floor Available” tone, then press the PTT button again to speak.

6.To end the PTT call, press . If the other party ends the call, no action is required.

“Call Ended” appears.
