TheWEEEmarkappliesonlytocountrieswithintheEuropeanUnion(EU)andNorway.Appliancesare
labeledinaccordancewithEuropeanDirective2002/96/ECconcerningwasteelectricalandelectronic
equipment(WEEE).TheDirectivedeterminestheframeworkforthereturnandrecyclingofusedappliances
asapplicablethroughouttheEuropeanUnion.Thislabelisappliedtovariousproductstoindicatethatthe
productisnottobethrownaway,butratherreclaimeduponendoflifeperthisDirective.
Usersofelectricalandelectronicequipment(EEE)withtheWEEEmarkingperAnnexIVoftheWEEE
DirectivemustnotdisposeofendoflifeEEEasunsortedmunicipalwaste,butusethecollectionframework
availabletothemforthereturn,recycle,recoveryofWEEEandminimizeanypotentialeffectsofEEEon
