Diagnosticprogramsareusedtotesthardwarecomponentsofyourcomputerandr eport
operating-system-controlledsettingsthatcancausehardwarefailures.Therearetwodiagnosticprograms
preinstalledonyourcomputertohelpyoudiagnoseproblems:
•PC-DoctorforWindows(usedwhendiagnosingproblemswhilerunningtheWindowsoperatingsystem)
•PC-DoctorforWindowsPE(usedwhenyourWindowsoperatingsystemwillnotstart)

2.Ifyouareunabletoisolateandrepairtheproblemyourselfbyrunningtheapplicableversion
ofPC-Doctor,clicktheSaveButtoninthePC-Doctor-log-ledisplay.Y ouwillneedtohaveall
problem-relatedloglesavailablewhenyouspeaktoaLenovot echnicalsupportrepresentative.

PC-DoctorforWindows

PC-DoctorforWindowsisadiagnosticpr ogramthatworksthroughtheWindowsoperatingsystem.The
PC-DoctorforWindowsdiagnosticprogramenablesyoutoviewsymptomsandsolutionsforcomputer
problems,accesstheLenovotroubleshootingcenter,updatesystemdrivers,andreviewsysteminformation.
TorunPC-DoctorforWindows,opentheStartmenufromtheWindowsdesktop,selectAllPrograms,select
PC-DoctorforWindows,andclickPC-DoctorforWindows.Followtheinstructionsonthescreen.
Foradditionalinformationaboutrunningthediagnosticprogram,refertothePC-DoctorforWindows
helpsystem.
IfyoustillsuspectaproblemafterPC-DoctorforWindowsrunssuccessfully,runPC-DoctorforDOSor
PC-DoctorforWindowsPEtohelpyoudiagnosethecomputerproblem.
PCDoctorforWindowsalsohasproblemdeterminationaidsthatdet erminesoftwareandusageproblems.

PC-DoctorforWindowsPE

ThePC-DoctorforWindowsPEdiagnosticpr ogramispartoftheRescueandRecovery™workspaceon
eachLenovocomputer.UsePC-DoctorforWindowsPE,ifyouareunabletostarttheWindowsoperating
systemorifPC-DoctorforWindowshasnotbeensuccessfulinisolatingapossibleproblem.

RunningdiagnosticsfromtheRescueandRecoveryworkspace

YoucanrunthePC-DoctorforWindowsPEdiagnosticprogramfromtheRescueandRecoveryworkspace.
TorundiagnosticsfromtheRescueandRecoveryworkspace,usethefollowingprocedure:
1.Shutdowntheoperatingsystemandturnoffthecomputer.
2.RepeatedlypressandreleasetheF11keyasyouturnonthecomputer.
3.Whenyouhearbeepsorseealogoscreen,stoppressingtheF11key.TheRescueandRecovery
workspaceopens.
4.FromtheRescueandRecoveryworkspace,selectDiagnosehardware.
5.Thediagnosticpr ogramopensautomatically.Selectthediagnostictestyouwanttorun.PresstheF1
keyforadditionalhelp.
