Replacingaharddiskdrive
Thissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtoreplacetheharddiskdrive.
Important
Whenanewharddiskdriveisinstalled,asetofProductRecoverydiscsmightberequired.Thesetof
ProductRecoverydiscsenablethecontentsoftheharddisktoberestoredtothesamestateaswhenthe
computerwasoriginallyshippedfromthefactory.F ormoreinformationonrecoveringfactory-installed

Toreplacetheharddiskdrive:
1.Openthecomputercover.See“Openingthecover”onpage68.
2.Disconnectthepowercablefromtheopticaldrive.
3.Placeyourngeronthetablocatedonthefrontoftheharddiskdriveandpushupward.Thenpress
inwardonthesidetabsandpivottheharddiskdriveupwardtoremove.
4.Removethefailingharddiskdrivefromthechassis.
5.Disconnectthesignalandpowercablesfromtheharddiskdrive.
6.Removetheharddiskdrivefromtheplasticbracketbyexingthesidesofthebracketenoughtoslide
itfreeoftheharddiskdrive.
7.Toinstallthenewhar ddiskdriveintotheplasticbracket1,exthebracketandalignthepinsonthe
bracketwiththeholesintheharddiskdrive.Donottouchthecircuitboard2onthebottomofthe
harddiskdrive.
