3.2 HEART RATE MONITORING
THE LIFEPULSETM DIGITAL HEART RATE MONITORING SYSTEM
The patented Lifepulse system sensors are the built-in heart rate monitoring system. For the most accurate reading pos-
sible, during a workout:
Grasp the sensors (A) firmly.
Hold each sensor at the horizontal (treadmill, recumbent bike and upright bike) or vertical midpoint (cross-trainer
and upright bike).
Keep hands steady and in place.
The console displays the heart rate within 10 to 40 seconds after the user grasps the sensors. The following factors may
affect a Lifepulse reading: incorrect hand placement on the sensors, upper body activity, lotion or dirt on hands, and
excessive or insufficient pressure used when gripping the sensors.

Treadmill
NOTE: Do not attempt to grasp the sensors at speeds
over 4.5 mph, or 7.3 kph. For these speeds use of a
heart rate chest strap is recommended.

Cross-Trainer
NOTE: Sensors are located on both the arms and bull
horns.
Upright Lifecycle Exercise Bike
NOTE: Grasp two of the four opposing
sensors (A) that are set into the handle-
bars.
Recumbent Lifecycle Exercise Bike
NOTE: Sensors are located on the side handlebars and armrests.
