Note that a PCIe hard drive controller card must be installed in one of the two PCIe slots for the hard drive(s) to interface with the host system. However that controller card should be no longer than PCIe half-length in order to accommodate a second (optional) hard drive in the area designated as zone 2 below:

Use these holes to mount a 3.5” drive instead of the 2.5” shown

Zone 1: 2.5”/3.5” drive (Unrestricted)

Zone 2: 2.5”/3.5” drive (PCIe card Length limit)

Both zones feature six holes in the base of the chassis so that both 2.5” and 3.5” drives with their respective brackets can be installed in the system.

Finally secure each of the installed hard drive(s)’ brackets from the bottom of the chassis with two screws per bracket. Then be sure to connect the power and data cables to the newly installed hard drive(s).
