Connecting a TV, Stereo VC R, DVD, and Stereo Receiveror AmplifierThis cable configuration can be used for a mono or stereo TV because
the TV audio and video jacks are not used.
If your TV supports multiple sets of video and audio inputs (such as
VID1, VID2, etc.) see “Connecting a DCT5100 to an A/V Receiver, TV,
and Stereo VCR”. When you have completed those connections, refer to
the diagram illustrated here to connect your DVD to your TV.
1Connect an RF coaxial cable to the cable wall outlet and the CABLE
IN connector on the DCT5100.
2Connect an RF coaxial cable to the TO TV/VCR connector on the
DCT5100 and the CABLE/ANTENNAIN connector on the stereo VCR.
3Connect an RF coaxial cable to the TO TV connector on the stereo
VCR and the CABLE/ANTENNAIN connector on the TV.
4Connect a set of stereo audio cables between the AUDIO OUT
Rand Lconnectors on the DCT5100 and the AUX IN R and L
connectors on the stereo receiver or amplifier.
5Connect a stereo audio cable from the TAPE OUT R and Lconnectors
on the stereo receiver or amplifier and the INPUT AUDIO R and L
connector on the stereo VCR.
6Connect a stereo audio cable to the OUTPUT AUDIO R and L
connectors on the stereo VCR and the TAPE 1IN R and Lconnectors
on the stereo receiver or amplifier.
7Connect a stereo audio cable to the CD IN R and Lconnectors on
the stereo receiver or amplifier and the AUDIO OUT ANALOG R and L
connectors on the DVD.
8Connect a video cable to the VIDEO OUT connect or on the DVD and
the INPUTVIDEO connector on the TV.
To watch TV or view VCR recordings, the TV must be tuned to the
DCT5100 and VCR output channel, typically 3 or 4. To watch a DVD, the
TV VIDEO input must be used.
The video connection method does not support high definition video. For
more information, see “Connecting Your DCT5100 to an HDTV – Video
Only” on page 16.
