DAF-Assist Illumination

The AF-assist illumination is available with lenses with focal lengths of 24–200mm. It can not however be used to assist the focus operation

with the following lenses:

 

AF-S VR 200mm f/2G ED

AF-S VR 200–400mm f/4G ED

At ranges under 0.7m (2ft. 4in.), the following lenses may block the AF- assist illuminator and interfere with autofocus when lighting is poor:

• AF Micro 200mm f/4D ED

AF-S DX 17–55mm f/2.8G ED

AF-S VR 24–120mm f/3.5–5.6G ED • AF-S NIKKOR 24–70mm f/2.8G ED

AF Micro 70–180mm f/4.5–5.6D ED • AF-S 28–70mm f/2.8D ED

AF-S 17–35mm f/2.8D ED

At ranges under 1.1m (3ft. 7in.), the following lens may block the AF- assist illuminator and interfere with autofocus when lighting is poor:

AF-S DX VR 55–200mm f/4–5.6G ED

At ranges under 1.5m (4ft. 11in.), the following lenses may block the AF- assist illuminator and interfere with autofocus when lighting is poor:

AF-S DX NIKKOR 18–200mm

• AF 80–200mm f/2.8D ED

f/3.5–5.6G ED VR II

AF-S VR 70–300mm f/4.5–5.6G ED

AF-S VR 70–200mm f/2.8G ED

AF-S NIKKOR 14–24mm f/2.8G ED

AF-S 80–200mm f/2.8D

 

At ranges under 2.3m (7ft. 7in.), the following lens may block the AF- assist illuminator and interfere with autofocus when lighting is poor:

• AF VR 80–400mm f/4.5–5.6D ED
