e: Bracketing/Flash

e1: Flash Shutter Speed

This option (available only in P and A modes) determines the slowest shutter speed available when using front- or rear-curtain sync or red-eye reduction in modes P and A (regardless of the setting chosen, shutter speeds can be as slow as 30 s in modes S and M or at flash settings of slow sync, slow rear-curtain sync, or red-eye reduction with slow sync). Options range from 1/60 s (1/60 s, the default setting) to 30 s (30 s).

e2: Flash Cntrl for Built-in Flash

Choose the flash mode for the built-in flash. This option is available in P, S, A, and M modes only.

A“Manual” and “Repeating Flash”

Y icons blink in the control panel and viewfinder when these options are selected.

AThe SB-400

When an optional SB-400 flash unit is attached and turned on, Custom Setting e2 changes to Optional flash, allowing the flash control mode for the SB-400 to be selected from TTL and Manual (Repeating flash and Commander mode options are not available).
