Basic Photography and Playback: G (Easy Auto) Mode

Basic Shooting Functions

BNotes on Touch Shutter

When taking pictures with Continuous or BSS in Continuous setting (A 58) enabled, or in Sports or Museum scene mode (A 61), use the shutter-release button to take pictures. Only one picture can be taken at a time using the touch shutter function.

Prevent shooting with accidental tapping of the monitor in G (easy auto) mode, A (auto) mode, and some scene modes by changing the touch shooting setting to Touch AF/AE (A 44). At this setting, the shutter is not released when the monitor is tapped.

When shooting subjects with which autofocus may not perform as expected, the subject may not be in focus (A 29).

When a subject displayed in the monitor is tapped with the self-timer (A 36) enabled, the camera locks focus and releases the shutter after ten or two seconds.

There are functions with which this setting cannot be enabled. See “Camera Settings That cannot be Applied Simultaneously” (A 76) for more information.
