1Press the shutter-release button halfway.

Basic Photography and Playback: Auto

When people's faces (front view) are recognized:

Camera will focus on the face surrounded by a double border.

Once focus has been locked the double border will glow green.

When shooting non-human subjects or when no faces are recognized:

Camera automatically selects the focus area (one of nine) containing the subject closest to the camera.

When the subject is in focus, the active focus area glows green.

Mode

Focus will be on the center of the screen (without active focus area display) when digital zoom is in effect . And the subject is in focus, the focus indicator (A 6) will glow green.

The shutter speed and aperture are displayed when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway.

The focus and exposure remain locked while the shutter-release button is pressed halfway.

When the shutter-release button is pressed halfway, and then the double border blinks in Face Priority, or the focus area or the focus indicator blinks red, the camera is unable to focus. Change the composition and press the shutter-release button halfway down again.

2Press the shutter-release button the rest of the way down.

The picture will be recorded to the memory card or internal memory.
