Connecting—Continued

O. Connecting Standard Video Equipment for Progressive Upconversion (not Canadian model)

If your TV supports progressive scanning, you can con- nect another video component (satellite/cable tuner, LD player, etc.) to the DV-SP1000/DV-SP1000E and it will upconvert interlaced video to progressive. This is also useful when your TV doesn’t have enough video inputs to connect all of your components.

You can connect your other video component to the DV-SP1000/DV-SP1000E’s S-Video or composite VIDEO IN input, as shown. To use the other component, on the DV-SP1000/DV-SP1000E, set the video input source to EXTERNAL (see page 66).

Notes:

If the source video signal is unstable or of poor quality, the picture may be distorted or flicker.

The S-Video VIDEO IN has priority. If there’s no sig- nal present at that input, the DV-SP1000/ DV-SP1000E uses the composite video input.

See the table on page 27 for details on how the DV-SP1000/DV-SP1000E’s video outputs work with each video input source.

About the HD COMPONENT VIDEO OUT

When a video signal is fed to the S-Video or composite VIDEO IN socket, and the video input source is set to EXTERNAL, that video signal is upconverted to pro- gressive and output by the HD VIDEO OUT COMPO- NENT socket.
