Modem
CAUTION
Do not use the PBX internal phone lines install ed in company offices. Doing so may
lead to a fire or electric shock.
It is not possible to connect the modem to any of the following lines.
• Internal home phones
•Intercoms
Be sure to connect the modem telephone cable into the modem por t, not into the LAN
port.
The modem may be damaged by sudden high voltage surges, as may occur in the
event of a lightning strike. We recommend use of a surge protector.
1Connect the computer and the telephone jack (A) using a modem
telephone cable (included)(B).
Open the modem cover, position the cable so that the tab (C) matches the port ( ),
and insert the cable until you hear a "click".
2Change the settings as necessary.
ASelect [Edit] in [start] - [Control Panel] - [Printers and Other Hardware] -
[Phone and Modem Options] - [Dialing Rules], then s elect the location from
which you will be dialing in [Country/region].
BInput the necessary information (items such as the area code, dialing rules,
etc.), select [OK], then select [OK].
NOTE
Do not enter either the standby or hibernation mode during communications.
To remove the cable, pull out while pressing down on the tab.
<Modem-on-Hold function>
The modem of this computer has Modem-on-Hold function, whi ch allows you to
receive an incoming call and stay connected to the internet (Call-Waiting servic e from
your phone company is required. Your ISP must also support V.92). To use this
function, select on the t askbar and make settings.
