Taking Pictures using Panning Mode

The Panning Mode allows you to follow the motion of a moving subject. This special effect allows the subject to be in sharp focus while the background will show some motion blur.

Preparation

•Set the mode dial to [ ]. (P28)

•Set to burst mode. (P42)

•Prefocus on the subject. (P64)

ªTechnique for Panning mode

To achieve good pictures in panning mode, pick a horizontal plane – and then pan as you fire shots.

1Move the camera smoothly while

tracking a subject in motion.

2Press the shutter button while

moving the camera.

3Keep moving the camera continuously.

•Be careful of the following:

–Use the Viewfinder. (P25)

–Select the subject with quick motion.

–Be as close to the subject as possible.

–Prefocus to the point where the subject will come. (P64)

–Use this mode with burst mode (P42). Select the best picture from the pictures taken.
