Taking Pictures with Aperture-priority AE

When you want the background to be in sharp focus, set the aperture value to a higher number. The higher the aperture value, the smaller the aperture opening will be. For a soft focus background, set the aperture number to a lower number which corresponds to a larger aperture opening.

Preparation

• Set the mode dial to [ ]. (P30)

Close the menu by pressing the [MENU] button after finishing the setting.

2Set the aperture value and take

the picture.

¬Suggestions/Tips ¬

Refer to P56 for the available range of the aperture value and the shutter speed.

The focus range is 0.16 feet (5 cm) – ¶ (Wide) and 6.56 feet (2 m) – ¶ (Tele).

If the subject is too bright, set to larger aperture value, if too dim, set to smaller aperture value.

The brightness of the screen may differ from that of the actual pictures. Check it using review function or setting to the playback mode.

The ISO sensitivity cannot be set to [AUTO].

When the exposure is not adequate, of the aperture and the shutter speed values on the screen turn red.
