Cautions for Use
Always use a genuine Panaso nic AC adaptor (DMW-AC5PP; option al).
Do not use any other cables ex ce pt a genuine Panasonic AV cable (DMW-AVC1; option al ).
Do not use any other USB conne ct i on cables except the supplied on e.
Keep the camera as far away as possible from electromagnetic equipment (such as
microwave ovens, TVs, video game s etc.).
If you use the camer a on top of or near a TV, the pictures an d s o und on the camera may be
disrupted by electromagn et i c w ave radiation.
Do not use the camera near cell pho nes because doing so may result in noi s e adversely
affecting the pictures and sou nd.
Recorded data may be damaged, or pictur es may be distorted, by strong magnetic fields
created by speakers or larg e motors.
Electromagnetic wave radia tion generated by microproc essors may adversely affect the
camera, disturbing the pic tu res and sound.
If the camera is adversely affec ted by electromagnetic equi pm ent and stops functioning
properly, turn the came ra off and remove the battery or disconnec t AC adaptor (DMW-AC5 PP;
optional). Then reinser t the ba ttery or reconnect AC adapt or an d turn the camera on.
Do not use the camer a near radio transmitters or high-voltage lines.
If you record near radio transmi tters or high-voltage lines, the recor ded pictures and sound may
be adversely affected.
Care of the camera
Do not touch the lens or the sockets with dirty hands. Also, be careful not to allow
liquids, sand and other foreign matter to get into the space around the lens, buttons etc.
Do not touch the lens barrier A. (Doing so may damage the
camera. Be careful when taking th e camera out of a bag etc.)
If the lens gets dirty, turn on the power and deploy the lens
barrel. Then hold the lens barrel between your fingers and
lightly wipe the lens surface with a soft dry cloth. (If you leave
fingerprints on or otherwise dirty the lens, the pictures you
take may look whiter than normal.)

Do not leave the camera with th e le n s fa cing the sun.
Do not strongly shake or bump the camera by dropping or
hitting it. Do not subject to strong pre ssure.
The camera may malfunction , recording pictures may becom e
impossible, or the lens, the LCD monitor or the external case may be da maged.
We strongly recommend you do no t leave the camera in your trous er s pocket when you sit
down or forcefully insert it into a full or tight bag etc.
Damage to the LCD monitor or pe rsonal injury may result.
Do not attach any other items to t he ha nd strap that’s included with your camera. While being
stored, that item can rest aga inst the LCD monitor and dama ge i t .
Be particularly careful in the fol lowing places as they may cause t his unit to
malfunction.
Places with a lot of sand or dust .
Places where water can come into co ntact with this unit such as when using it on a rain y day
or on a beach.
This camera is not waterproo f. If water or seawater splashes on th e cam era, use a dry
cloth to wipe the camera body carefully.
If the unit does not operate normally, please contact the dealer where you purchased the
camera or the repair s ervice cente r.
About Condensation (Wh en the lens is fogged up)
Condensation occurs whe n the ambient temperature or hum i d ity changes. Be careful of
condensation since it causes lens stains, fungus and camera malfunction.
If condensation occurs, turn the camera off and leav e it for about 2 hours. The fog will disappear
naturally when the temperature of the camera becomes cl ose to the ambient temperature.
