Glossary of Terms

APN	Access Point Name. Directs the user to the gateway or
	the required service.
CHAP	Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol. A security
	feature in the GPRS network.
Copy	Copies selected text from short text message without
	removing it from the original message.
CSD	Circuit Switched Data. A communication method used to
	transmit data over telephone connections.
Cut	Permanently removes selected text from short text
	message.
	Dual Tone Multi-Frequency tones allow you to
DTMF Tones	communicate with computerised phone systems, voice
	mailboxes etc.
EMS	Enhanced Message Service. Upgraded feature of Text
	Messages.
	General Packet Radio Service. A GSM data transmission
	technique that transmits and receives data in packets
GPRS	rather than setting up a continuous channel. It makes
	very efficient use of available radio spectrum and users
	pay only for the volume of data sent and received.
	Global System for Mobile Communications. The name
GSM	given to the advanced digital technology that your phone
	uses.
MMS	Multimedia Messaging Service. Attach images and music
	to text message.
Network	The organisation responsible for operating a GSM
Operator	network.
PAP	Password Authentication Protocol. A security feature in
	the GPRS network.
Password	Used to control Call Bar. Supplied by your Service
	Provider.
