It gradually replaces a still picture of the last recorded scene with the moving picture of the new scene, like drawing a curtain.

Set [EFFECT1] on the [DIGITAL EFFECT] Sub- Menu to [WIPE] and exit the Menu. (p. 48)
The [WIPE] Indication appears.

Press the Recording Start/Stop Button to start recording.
The normal recording starts.
