Shooting in the dark

Option Description

Slow Sync:

￿The flash fires and the shutter stays open longer.

￿ Select this when you want to capture ambient light to reveal more details in the background.

￿Use a tripod to prevent your photos from blurring.

Fill in:

￿ The flash always fires.

￿Light intensity is adjusted automatically.

Red-eye*:

￿ The flash fires when the subject or background is dark.

￿The camera reduces red-eyes.

Auto: The flash fires automatically when the subject or background is dark.

The options may differ depending on the shooting mode.

*There is an interval between two bursts of the flash. Do not move until the flash fires a second time.

￿￿Flash options are not available if you set burst options or select Self-Portrait or Blink Detection.

￿￿Make sure that your subjects are within the recommended distance from the flash. (p. 104)

￿￿If there is reflected light or much dust in the air, tiny spots may appear on your photo.

Adjust the amount of flash to avoid overexposure or underexposure.

1 In Shooting mode, press [m].

2 Select Shooting ￿ Flash EVC.

3 Adjust the amount of flash.

￿￿Adjusting the flash amount may not be effective if:

-the subject is too close to the camera

-you set a high ISO speed

-the exposure value is too big or too small

￿￿In some shooting modes, you cannot use this function.
