BASIC SHOOTING FUNCTIONS

4Take the picture.
<Shooting without using the LCD monitor>
1Press the focus button.
œThe LCD monitor turns on briefly to show the currently set focus
mode.
2Press the focus button within 5 seconds to set the desired focus
mode.
HINT
œThe shortest distance for macro photography is 10 cm if [W] (Wide) on the
zoom switch is pressed, and 40 cm if [T] (Tele) is pressed.
œIn the manual focus mode, the shortest distance for taking pictures is 10
cm when [W] (Wide) on the zoom switch is pressed until it stops (wide
angle), and 40 cm when [T] (Tele) is pressed until it stops (telephoto).
œThe focus distance indication shows the distance between the lens surface
and the subject.

Using the flash

The flash is used not only for taking pictures where there is insufficient light,
but also when the subject is in shade or in backlight conditions. Your camera
has four modes of operation (automatic flash mode, forced flash mode, flash
off mode, and red-eye reduction mode). Flash photography is possible only in
the still image shooting mode.
1Set the camera to the still image
shooting mode (see page 59).
2Press the flash button.
œThe current flash mode is shown on
the LCD monitor.
