BASIC SHOOTING FUNCTIONS

HINT
œAt normal focus, the effective flash range is 0.5 to 3.1 meters (widest lens
setting) and 0.5 to 1.7 meters (telephoto lens setting). At macro focus, the
effective flash range is 0.1 to 0.5 meters (widest lens setting) and 0.4 to 0.5
meters (telephoto lens setting).
NOTE
In the automatic flash mode...
œIn the automatic flash mode using the LCD monitor, when the shutter
release button is depressed halfway, a f icon appearing in the upper
right area of the LCD monitor indicates that the flash will operate.

Shooting without using the LCD monitor

Compose the desired image by looking through the viewfinder. Compared to
capturing images using the LCD monitor, this method uses less battery pack
power.
1Set the shooting mode (see page
59).
2Set the main switch to [à].
3Look through the viewfinder and
position the subject in the center.
4Press the shutter release button.
