CHANGING THEINCLINE
Tovary the intensity of your exercise,the incline of the
CROSSWALK can be changed using_theleveron the
right sideof the console. Toincreasethe incline, stand
toward the back of the foot rails and pullback thelever
until the desired inclineis reached. To decrease the
incline,stand toward thefront of thefoot rails, lean for-
ward, and pullback the lever.You may need to raise
and lower the treadmi!l severaltimesto break inthe
inclineshock.CAUTION: Donotchange theincline
while youare walking or running onthe CROSSWALK.
OPERATINGTHE UPPERBODYARMS
Theupper body arms can be usedin either the stationary
positionor thedual motion position. To use the upper
bodyarms in the stationaryposition,insert thelock pin
through he armsand the upright (seethe drawing
below). Important: If it is difficulttoinsertthe lock pin, do
nothit the end of the lock pin; twisteach upper body
armslighttyin order to align the holes. Do not twistthe
upperbody arms too far or the treadmillmay be dam-
aged. Firmlytightenthe resistance control. Insertthe hair-
pincotter through the hale in the end of the lock pin(see
the insetdrawing.)

Tousethe upper body arms in the dual motion position,
firstmake sure the resistancecontrol istightened.
Removethelock pin from the upper body arms and the
upright,and insertit through the safetytabsat the base
of theupright. Insertthe hairpin cotter into the lockpin.
Inthe dual motion position, you can move the arms for-
ward and backas you walk or run, exercising your
arms, back and shoulders for a total body workout. To
tailor the intensity of your exercise, the resistance of the
arms can be changed. Toincrease the resistance, turn
the resistancecontrol clockwise;todecrease the resis-
tance,turn thecontrol counterclockwise.
CAUTION: Always insertthe lock pin through the safely
tabs when using the upper body arms inthe dual
motionposition. If you fall while exercising,the lock
pinwill limitthe downward movementof the arms.
When thelock pin isinsertedthrough the safely tabs,
do notlean on the upper body arms or thelock pin
may be damaged. Ifthe hairpin cotter is not attached
to the lockpin as instructed,the lock pin may slipout,
resulting in injury to the user.
OPERATINGTHEMOTIVATIONAL FITNESSMONITOR
Thefour displays of themotivational fitness monitor are
designed to provide youwith instantexercisefeedback.
Toreset the displays,pressthe ON/CLEAR button. The
four displays are described below:
TIME--This display showsthe elapsed time. Note: When
_e walkingbelt is stopped, the TIME display will go into
a pausemode after a few seconds.
CALORIE--Thisdisplay showsthe approximate number
of nutritional Caloriesthat you haveburned.
SPEED--Thisdisplay showsthecurrent speedof the
walkingbelt, in milesper hour.
DISTANCE--This displayshowsthe total distance that
youhave walked or run, inmiles.
Note:if the walking belt is stoppedand remains station-
ary for about five minutes,the four displays of the moti-
vationalfitnessmonitorwill be reset and willdarken,
althoughthepower will remain on. The four displayswill
appearagain whenthe ON/CLEAR button is pressed,or
thewalking belt is restarted.
TURNINGOFF THE POWER
Toturn off the power, remove the safetykey from the
console. The power indicatorwill darken. Store the safe-
17'keyin a secure location.
