Using a Memory Stick–introduction

Notes

•Prevent metallic objects or your finger from coming into contact with the metal parts of the connecting section.

•Stick its label on the labeling position.

•Do not bend, drop or apply strong shock to Memory Sticks. •Do not disassemble or modify Memory Sticks.

•Do not let Memory Sticks get wet.

•Do not use or keep Memory Sticks in locations that are:

Extremely hot such as in a car parked in the sun or under the scorching sun

Under direct sunlight

Very humid or subject to corrosive gases

•When you carry or store a Memory Stick, put it in its case.

You do not need to format the Memory Stick supplied with your camcorder

The Memory Stick supplied with your camcorder is already formatted in FAT format. FAT format is the standard format for Memory Sticks and is supported by your camcorder.

Note

Sample images are already recorded on the Memory Stick supplied with your camcorder. All of these sample images will be deleted if you format the Memory Stick.

Memory Stick operations on your camcorder cannot be assured if the Memory Stick is formatted on a Windows machine or Macintosh.

Notes on image data compatibility

•Image data files recorded on Memory Sticks by your camcorder conform with the Design Rules for Camera File Systems universal standard established by the JEIDA (Japan Electronic Industry Development Association). You cannot play back on your camcorder still images recorded on other equipment (DCR-TRV890/TRV900, DSC- D700) that does not conform with this universal standard. (These models are not sold in some areas.)

•If you cannot use a Memory Stick that has been used on other equipment, format the Memory Stick on your camcorder following the steps on page 84. Note that all images on the Memory Stick will be deleted if you format it.
