Note

If you operate the player while the picture is being stored in memory, the player will fail to store the picture.

BLACK LEVEL

Selects the black level (setup level) for the video (NTSC) signals output from the jacks other than COMPONENT VIDEO OUT.

OFF

Sets the black level of the

 

output signal to the standard

 

level. Normally select this

 

position.

ON

Raises the standard black level.

 

Use this setting when the

 

picture appears too dark.

 

 

To switch the video signal format

If you have selected “PROGRESSIVE” for a TV that does not accept signals in progressive format, or if the software’s video signals are not suited for progressive video signal conversion, view the image in Interlace format.

1Set the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT/ SCAN SELECT switch on the rear panel of the player to “INTERLACE.”

2Set “COMPONENT OUT” to “INTERLACE.”

3Reset the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT/ SCAN SELECT switch to “SELECTABLE.”

Normally leave the switch in this position when using the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT jacks.

Note

“PROGRESSIVE” does not work for PAL signals. Even if you set “COMPONENT OUT” to “PROGRESSIVE,” the output signal is automatically switched to interlace format for PAL signals.

Note

This does not work with PAL format discs.

BLACK LEVEL (COMPONENT OUT)

Selects the black level (setup level) for the video (NTSC) signals output from the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT jacks. You cannot select this when “COMPONENT OUT” is set to “PROGRESSIVE” (see below).

COMPONENT OUT

This will change the type of signal output from the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT jacks on the player. See page 87 for more information about the different types.

Adjust this when you watch progressive signals on a standard 4:3 aspect ratio television. If you can change the aspect ratio on your progressive format (525p) compatible TV, change the setting on your TV, not the player.
