• You ca nnot set this item when using the following functio ns:
– [Sweep Panorama]
– [Smile Shutter]
– [RAW] or [RAW & JPEG] in [Quality]
• You ca nnot use the [Zoom] feature in MENU when a lens wi th power zoom is attached. When you
operate the zooming lever or zooming ring, the camera shifts automatically to the [Zoom] feature of the
camera when the magnification scale is greater than that of the optical zoom .
• You ca nnot use [Clear Image Zoom] when the [Drive Mode] is set t o continuous or bracket shooting.
• You ca nnot use the Smart Zoom or [Clear Image Zoom] functi on with movies. If you press the MOVIE
button during a zoom operation, the camera zooms in the range of [Digital Zoo m].
• When you use the [Zoom] feature of the camera, the setting of [Autofocus Area] is invalid and the AF
area is indicated with a dotted line. AF operates with priority on and arou nd the center area. Also,
[Metering Mode] is fixed to [Multi].

zThe quality of the [Zoom] feature of the camera
As the image is zoomed by digital processing in [Clear Image Zoom] and [Digital Zoom],
the image quality deteriorates compared to that before zooming was used. If you use a zoom
lens, we recommend that you fully zoom in on an image using the zooming ring first, and
then use the [Zoom] feature of the camera if you need further zooming.
