Topic: Why doesn't my CD-RW drive record at the highest speed?

You must use 4x CD-RW or 8x CD-R media to achieve optimum performance.

If you must use other media and are having difficulty formatting non-4x CD-RW media, change the write speed from 8x to a lower setting. To change the write speed from the default to a lower speed:

1From the Start menu, select Programs > Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4 > Create CD.

2Click Audio, then click Audio CD.

3On the Tools menu, click CD Drive Properties. The CD Drive Properties dialog box appears.

4At the Write Speed drop-down list, select 1x, 2x, or 4x.

5Click Close.
