Step 3: Connect the VGP-XL1B to the Host Computer

Note: Before you begin, make sure that the power has been turned off to the host computer and any peripheral equipment.

Connecting the VGP-XL1B CD/DVD Changer/Recorder to the your computer is a simple process requiring only a single cable.

1Using the supplied i.LINK® cable, connect the end without the ferrite bead (a large node close to one end of the cable) to an i.LINK® connector on the host computer, and connect the cable end with the ferrite bead to an i.LINK® connector on the back panel of the VGP-XL1B CD/DVD Changer/Recorder.

2Turn the power to the host computer on before turning the power on the VGP-XL1B CD/DVD Changer/Recorder.

To verify that the installation was successful, do one of the following.

To verify using Device Manager

1Click the Start icon from the Window taskbar, and then click Control Panel.

2Click Hardware and Sound, then click Device Manager. The User Account Control popup appears. Click Continue.

3Double-click on Medium Changer Devices. Verify that your Changer(s) are listed.

To verify using Media Center

1Start Media Center.

2From the top level menu, look for the My Changer option.
