Scanning New Discs

When loading discs to the Changer/Recorder, the discs must be identified, scanned, and categorized by Media Center to update your media library before viewing in My Changer. After new discs are loaded, do the following.

Note: You must have a working Internet connection to download metadata content to properly recognize the discs and associate the applicable metadata for each disc.

1Start Media Center.

2From the Start menu, select TV+Movies > DVD Library. The Found New Discs message appears on screen.

3Click Yes to begin scanning the discs to update your media library with new disc information. It can take up to 60 seconds to scan each disc. Once the discs have been identified and scanned, they can be viewed in the My Changer, DVD, and Music Libraries.

Important Notes

If you have multiple user accounts setup on the host computer, the metadata for audio CDs will display only for the user account that was logged on at the time the discs were originally scanned. For other user accounts to view audio CD metadata, they must unload the discs from the changer, log on to the new account, and then reload and rescan the audio CDs again.

My Changer Music (Sony® Changer/Recorder) and Music Library (Media Center) are distinct areas in your entertainment system and offer separate features. My Changer Music does not display music discs or files that have been copied to the Music or Shared Music folders on the hard disk drive. The only Media Changer/Recorder audio CD available in MCE’s Music Library is the current disc in the Changer’s drive.
