Mounting the Bar and Chain
The chainsaw should also be returned immediately for maintenance whenever the brake system cannot be thoroughly cleaned or there is a change in its operating characteristics.
Additionally, the daily maintenance schedule for your chainsaw set forth in your STIHL Owner's Manual should be strictly followed.
Store chainsaw in a dry place and away from children. It should have the scabbard mounted or be in a carrying case.

:Disconnect plug from power supply.
:Unscrew the nut and take off the cover.
Models with Front Chain
Tensioner
:Turn screw (1) counterclockwise until tensioning nut (3) butts against the left end of the housing slot.
Models with Side Chain
Tensioner
:Turn screw (2) counterclockwise until the tensioning nut (3) butts against the left end of the housing slot.

:Wear work gloves to protect your hands.
:Fit the chain, start at the bar nose.

:Turn the guide bar so that the position of the chain matches the pictograph (5).
:Fit the guide bar over the collar screws (6) and engage the tensioning nut in the hole (7) – place the chain over the sprocket (8) at the same time.
