Safetynotes

Foryourownsafetypleaseconsideritessentialto

Theunitmustbesetupinsuchawaythatnoneof

the

connections can be touched directly (especially by

children).Besuretoobservethenotesandinforma

tionin

thesection 'Installation and Wiring'.

 

High voltages may be present at the loudspeaker terminalsmarkedwiththe Asymbol.Avoidtouchingthe terminalsandthecableconductorsconnectedtothe m.

Thepowersupplyrequiredforthisamplifierispri ntedon the mains supply socket. The unit must never be connectedtoapowersupplywhichdoesnotmeetthe se specifications.Iftheamplifierisnottobeused foralong period disconnect it from the mains supply at the w all socket.

Mainsleadsmustbedeployedinsuchawaythatthe

:CAUTION

Themethodofoperationofvalveamplifiersmeans that they inevitably generate a considerable quantityofwasteheat.Forthisreasonpleasenote thefollowingpoints:

• Nevertouchthevalvesorthevalvecoverswhenthe

areswitchedon,asthesemaybecomeveryhot.

 

Setuptheamplifierinanopenpositionandensure that air can flow to and around it completely unhindered.

Donotplaceanyobjectontheamplifier.

Notetherecommendedpointsinthesection 'Setting up'.

Allowtheamplifiertocooldownbeforeyoumoveor transportit.

Set up the amplifier in a position where children cannottouchit.

Thecaseshouldonlybeopenedbyaqualifiedspeci alist technician. Repairs and fuse replacements should be entrustedtoanauthorised specialistworkshop.With the exception of the connections and measures describedintheseinstructions,noworkofanykin dmay becarriedoutontheamplifierbyunqualifiedpers ons.

If the unit is damaged, or if you suspect that it i

functioning correctly, immediately disconnect the m

ains

plug at the wall socket, and ask an authorised

specialistworkshoptocheckit.

 

The unit may be damaged by excess voltage in the

powersupply,themainscircuitorinaerialsystem

s,as

mayoccurduringthunderstorms(lightningstrikes)

ordue

tostaticdischarges.

 

Specialpowersupplyunitsandexcessvoltageprotec

such as the 'PowerBar' mains distribution panel offer some degree of protection from damage to equipmentduetothehazardsdescribedabove.

However, if you require absolute securityfrom dama

duetoexcessvoltage,theonlysolutionistodisc

 

onnect

the unit from the mains power supply and any aerial

systems.

 

 

Ifthereisanydangerofexcessivevoltagereachin

equipment (e.g. a developing electrical storm) iso

your HiFi system by disconnecting all the mains an

aerialplugsfromthewallsockets.

 

 

Allmainspowersupplyandaerialsystemstowhich
